By default, you get a Micro USB cable, an OTG adapter, a SIM tool and a quick charger for the Ulefone Power 2. There is also a multilingual quick start guide. In addition, our package included additional accessories. This includes a protective glass for the display, a metal stand for gluing, as well as a flip case, which offers all-around protection.

Ulefone Power 2: Design & Processing

Review Ulefone Power 2: Cell phone Specs and Features 2017

Compared to the predecessor the Ulefone Power 2 the design was changed neatly. This applies to both the material and the shape of the housing. The body is now running obliquely to the back from all sides. As a result, the Ulefone Power 2 feels much thinner in the hand than it actually is. Moreover, one does not rely on a back of plastic or wood, but instead of metal. The middle part is made of very thick metal and provides stability and a high-quality feeling. The antenna caps are made of plastic and ensure good reception.

The accuracy of the processing is good. The antenna caps are almost flat with the metal part. The small gap between the components is wanted and shines easily. The SIM Tray on the left side of the Ulefone Power 2 is also made of metal and fits perfectly into the case.

You can hardly feel an unevenness here when you touch your finger on it. The volume and power buttons have an easy play, which however still moves within the scope, where it is hardly noticeable and thus also does not disturb. Very well, we find that the camera does not protrude from the housing. At a thickness of 10.2 mm, this would be a mistake.

The front of the Ulefone Power 2 is covered with 2.5D glass, but its arching is very subtle. Under the display is a Home Button, but it is a Solid State Button. This is not a real button, but a touch-sensitive area with a fingerprint scanner. On the other side, you did not touch buttons. Instead, on-screen buttons are used. Alternatively, you can navigate with the Home Button, but this does not work quite as well. To the reason why we come later in the section “Software”.

Over the display is an RGB status LED, over which one has, however, no control. When notifications, it lights up in blue, when charging red, and when charging is complete, green. There are no settings for the LED and it can not be controlled with Light-Flow.

In the hand, the Ulefone Power 2 is quite good despite the thickness and the weight of 210g. The extraordinary shape of the housing thus acts., However, users with small hands will still have problems using the device with only one hand.

Ulefone Power 2: Display

The 5.5″ Full HD display in the Ulefone Power 2 delivers a decent display, the color reproduction is rather cool, the representation is realistic and sharp, the contrast moves in the middle, the representation of pure black could be somewhat more intense The Ulefone Power 2 Miravision is not a good thing to do, but it ‘s the only way to get a good picture Ulefone will provide this update with an update.

The touch panel convinced us in the test. The resolution is quite high so that inputs are precisely recognized and no stuttering is visible when scrolling. The input delay is minimal, so you can quickly write with the Ulefone Power 2. Sensitivity is also convincing. Entries are always recognized promptly and you do not have to press firmly on the glass. Multi-touch inputs are detected with up to 5 fingers simultaneously.

The Ulefone Power 2 uses Gorilla Glass 3 for the display glass. This means that the glass is quite scratch-resistant and we have not been able to detect any damage in everyday use without the protective film. In addition, the slipperiness of the glass is quite high, which increases comfort during use. Fingerprints are only visible after a while and can be easy, removed at any time during Ulefone Power 2. Here is usually the simple stripping of the pants.

Ulefone Power 2: Hardware & Performance

The Mediatek MT6750T is no longer a new chip but still delivers enough power for everyday life. This is especially true if the optimization is right. This is exactly what Ulefone Power 2 is all about. In everyday life, the smartphone always runs smoothly and reacts promptly to inputs. Players without big demands will be satisfied with the performance. Games like Dead Trigger 2 or Asphalt Xtreme can be played smoothly with slightly reduced graphics settings. We could not determine an excessive heat development.

With 4GB of RAM, the Ulefone Power 2 is well equipped for multitasking. It is easily possible to keep 10 to 15 apps open in the background, without reloading them when switching. The speed of the working memory moves in the middle. With 64GB of data storage, the Ulefone Power 2 is also well equipped here. The memory reaches acceptable values at 116MB / s while reading and 132MB / s when writing. The memory can also be extended with a Micro SD card, which leads to the loss of Dual SIM (Hybrid Slot). With a 128GB Class 10 card, we were able to achieve good speeds of 54MB / s while reading and 36MB / s when writing.

The fingerprint sensor on the front works reliably and is therefore absolutely every day. Better could be the speed. It takes a brief second for the Ulefone Power 2 to wake up with the fingerprint sensor when unlocking. The sensor itself is not, however, because if the device is first waked with a Power Button and then touches the fingerprint sensor, the device immediately unlocks.

The sensor equipment of Ulefone Power 2 is satisfactory. With the exception of a dedicated step counter, we find all important sensors. Even a gyroscope and a compass are installed. Both work without problems.

Ulefone Power 2: Software

On the Ulefone Power 2 runs Android 7.0 nougat. At the time of the test, the firmware came with the security patch of 5 April 2017. The system supports all languages and comes with Google Play Store. Chinese Bloatware is not available. The optics of the system were easily adapted. This affects the launcher, as well as the icons in the Quick Settings and the Settings app. OTA updates are supported and used. During the test period, we got a big update with over 400MB.

Gross errors are not noticeable to us in everyday use. The Ulefone Power 2 ran steadily. The only thing we noticed is occasional crashes of apps in the background. This affected Google Play Services and Facebook. But this never became a problem and did not occur very often, so that you can not speak of a serious mistake.

Extractions the Ulefone Power 2 offers are different types of gestures which can be deactivated. There is also a small menu, which can be opened by wiping from the lower right corner. This then provides some tools and shortcuts. By default, this is deactivated. There is also a parallel space function. With this one can duplicate apps and so for example. Two Facebook accounts on the Ulefone Power 2.

Something badly solved is the operation of the smartphone with the Home Button. If you do not want to use the on-screen buttons, you have the possibility to use the Home Button to return to a level (short touch) or to open the App Switcher (long touch). However, what is missing is a way to return to the home screen. You can not do without the on-screen buttons. We would hope that Ulefone still remedies this grievance.

Ulefone Power 2: Reception & Connectivity

The Ulefone Power 2 moves in good mid-range when receiving mobile radio. With us at the location, we can not in the house in each room a 3G signal received, which here only smartphones with excellent reception create. In the open, however, there was no problem. Telephoning was also possible in the train mostly without disturbances. LTE band 20 is supported.

Review Ulefone Power 2: Cell phone Specs and Features 2017

The Ulefone Power 2 supports dual-band a / b / g / n-WLAN and thus reaches the usual value of around 70Mbit / s next to the router. A floor under the router breaks the signal then something and we reach only 45Mbit / s, which is still a good value. When using Bluetooth, we could not detect any problems.

In the GPS test, the Ulefone Power 2 achieves an excellent signal strength and finds an average of 16 satellites. The GPS fix comes within 2 seconds and the accuracy of tracking with Runtastic was very good. There were also no problems with pedestrian navigation. The orientation of the map worked superbly thanks to the gyroscope and compass. Even in large cities with high buildings (Frankfurt am Main), there were no disturbances.

Ulefone Power 2: Voice Quality & Audio

The Ulefone Power 2 has a mono-media loudspeaker in the lower frame. This is quite loud with Boost enabled but does not sound very well. In general, the sound is rather flat, because basses only pass through in tracks. An overdrive is only to be heard at the highest frequency in the upper frequency range. The headphone port provides a clear signal with neat volume. The blend is balanced. Although basses are strong, they do not drown out the mids and highs. When talking, the Ulefone Power 2 convinces rather less. On both sides, the spoken sounds sound rather dull and a little harsh. In addition, background noise is not reliably suppressed. This can be a problem in noisy environments.

Ulefone Power 2: Cameras

The Ulefone Power 2 has a 13MP camera on the back, as well as an 8MP camera on the front. Both modules use interpolation to increase the resolution to 16MP or 13MP. For the test, we used the native resolutions. Overall, the main camera has only been able to convince us to a limited extent. Basically, the sensor provides a decent picture with good detail. The tripping time is relatively short. Unfortunately, there is a lack of appropriate optimization. Pictures generally show a reddish tint and even with good illumination, a clear picture noise can be seen. Problems also occur with unfavorable light incidence. Here you get a milky veil in the pictures or the shots are overexposed. With a high blue content in the recordings, they also appear somewhat gloomy. Furthermore, there seem to be problems with the optics. Pictures look blurry at our smartphone in the right area. In low light conditions, the proportion of smoke increases sharply, and images are increasingly losing in detail. Recordings in the HDR mode are almost useless since they are blurred and suffer from an even stronger picture noise. The LED flash is useful for near and macro shooting, but it does not illuminate larger rooms.

Videos can capture the main camera with a resolution of up to 1080p. The quality of the recordings moves in the lower midfield. The audio quality is acceptable. It is noticeable however the videos only with good illumination are useful. Within a building, the light sensitivity is apparently set wrong, because then the videos are much too dark. We also observed the same effect on the front camera, which records videos with a resolution of 480p. In normal photos, the front camera delivers acceptable results, but even in daylight, a clear picture noise can be seen.

Ulefone Power 2: Battery

The Ulefone Power 2 comes with a monstrous 6.050mAh battery, therefore. And according to our measurement, this is true. With measured 6.151mAh, the battery seems to be even slightly larger than indicated by Ulefone. Apparently, the manufacturer gives the minimum value, which we find very commendable. Considering the size it is impressive how fast the battery is full again. The Ulefone Power 2 needs only about an hour and a half until the battery of 20% is fully charged again.

What disappoints, however, is the energy consumption of the Ulefone Power 2. The running time is by no means bad, but far from what should actually be possible. For intensive use with lots of camera and GPS use, we had no trouble to get the battery in one day empty. This is already disappointing, considering that e.g. A Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X with a more powerful processor and significantly smaller battery reaches the same (or even better) runtime. Ulefone should, therefore, try to optimize the energy consumption further, in order to use the full potential of the battery.

Ulefone Power 2: Conclusion

The Ulefone Power 2 is a hugely successful battery monster, which is well equipped at an attractive price. The most important problem areas are the camera and the high energy consumption of the smartphone. You should also work on the audio quality when making a call. An unrestricted purchase recommendation is only when Ulefone has significantly improved.
