Review Vernee Mars Pro: New High-End Phone with Premium Design

Review of Vernee Mars Pro is the Chinese mobile Vernee brand that aspires to the high end with a total premium design that you will love.

Vernee is a brand of Chinese mobile phones very young but has come very strong to this market. They started with the Vernee Thor, then the Vernee Apollo Lite and later the Vernee Mars, the device that we are going to review at the moment. It is not very well known in this brand but the truth is that for the short time it takes they are doing quite well. In this Vernee Mars Pro, we have seen that they have focused completely on the design leaving a very good experience in the hand but have left aside other points that we will comment throughout the analysis. I hope you like this complete analysis of this device.

Vernee Mars Pro: Appearance and Design

To say that the Vernee Mars Pro is an ugly device would be lying because it is quite the opposite. The aesthetic section is where more work has made the mark and it shows from the moment you take it out of the box. It has a unibody metallic body that is available in gold color like the one of our unit or in dark gray color. Personally, I like the dark gray more but both models are super stylish and pretty. On the back, the first device that comes to mind is the Apple iPhone since the line of antennas and the position of the camera is the same.

The sections that stand out most in the design is the fingerprint reader on the right side and the USB Type-C connection on the bottom. The position of the fingerprint reader I liked, in fact, the first was Sony with the Z5 in place here but the performance has not been expected and I comment later. We have the navigation buttons on the screen and what stands out most is the side frames of the screen. They have done an excellent job in the fabrication of the screen having extremely small frames. The volume buttons and power button are on the right side and are easy to access.

In day to day, the device feels great, not very difficult to handle with one hand. People who see the device are thought to be a high-end mobile and it costs twice as much as it actually costs. Vernee has shown us that the mid-range should not forget design and that is why it is its biggest positive point.

Vernee Mars Pro: Display and audio

The screen of this Vernee is of 5.5 inches of type IPS with resolution FullHD (1920 x 1080 pixels). What stands out from this screen is what I mentioned before, its side screen frames. In general, the screen is good and is more than enough for most users. The colors are vivid and the tactile response has not given me many problems but if it could be something better at the time of writing fast. Maybe with a software update, all this will change.

At the time of using the screen in our day to day, experience has been good but if you notice a maximum brightness somewhat low. At certain times under the sunlight, it has cost me to see the screen but it is nothing alarming. With its size of 5.5 inches, you will enjoy a lot of multimedia content and all kinds of games in a big way.

The speaker we have on the bottom next to the USB Type-C, the position I liked and the result is quite good. I have not found any kind of glue in the sound of the device. With earphones, the listening experience is also very good.

Vernee Mars Pro: Performance and Software

This Vernee Mars Pro comes with pretty powerful mid-range hardware. Assembles Helio P25 Octa Core 2.5GHz  and the 64-bit processor. The processor is accompanied by the Mali T880 GPU and 6GB of RAM type LPDDR3. RAM is a surprise that helps a lot in multitasking applications.

The hardware is not the best in the market, much less, but the truth is that I was surprised how well it moves. This Helio processor is really powerful for day-to-day tasks and even for demanding games. Where you notice the range of the device is in the opening applications, which is not as fast as in the high range. But in general, we will have a very fast and smooth experience.

As for the software, we have Android 7.0 without any layer of customization. Vernee takes great care of this section and perhaps for this, we have the good performance that we have felt. The software is fine but not quite perfect for some bugs that I have been able to observe. When sending a voice note in WhatsApp or in telegram you hear a rather loud beep that instead when we make a call is not heard. This means that it is obviously a software bug. Then also the fingerprint reader has failed me continuously even deactivating as if it did not exist. As I said before, the position of the fingerprint reader I liked but its operation has not convinced me. I have had continuous failures despite keeping the same footprint several times at a time and in the end, I have decided to deactivate it myself and not use it. For these two sections, Vernee should get an update soon that solves these two problems.

Vernee Mars Pro: Camera

We arrive at the photographic section, behind it incorporates a 13 megapixel sensor signed by Sony (IMX 258) and an aperture f / 2.0. The front camera is 5 megapixels for selfies. The software of the camera is typical that carry almost all the mobile with Helio and I do not recommend using. Much better if you use some other app available in the Play Store with many more options.

In short, I have to say that the camera is a decent camera but it should improve the dynamic range. The colors are faithful to the reality and the level of detail is quite acceptable. The loose point of the day as I say is the dynamic range. This causes that sometimes we have areas of the photograph somewhat burned and with little detail. At night, on the other hand, it goes quite well with a noise level that is quite normal and with a good illumination.

The front camera instead if that should improve enough because the level of detail it collects is less than the motives of the competition.

Vernee Mars Pro: Connectivity

Review Vernee Mars Pro: New High-End Phone with Premium Design

The Vernee Mars Pro has connectivity OTG, 4G, dualSIM, Bluetooth 4.0, radioFM, Wifi, and GPS. You can miss the NFC connectivity that for this price range is already beginning to see, but nothing more. The operation of the wifi signal or data signals has been very good and I have not found any hits. Few mobiles give problems in this section

Vernee Mars Pro: Battery

It has a capacity of 3.500 mAh that at first sight looks great but in day to day, it has not been like that. Maybe it’s for software but autonomy has not been as expected. I never got to get to the 4 hours of the screen and about 7-8 in the afternoon I had to go get a plug because it was turned off. It is true that this always depends on the use of each person and if you are not a user low demands you will endure the full day without a problem. But if you have to say that it does not last what you should be seeing the hardware that it incorporates inside. Maybe this will get better with some software update.

It is true that the load is not very slow so we can turn to the charger and give it a small charge in the middle of the day. It also incorporates the USB Type-C connection that this today is something that is valued and much. From now on all the devices that are going to the market will have this connection.

Vernee Mars Pro: Storage

Review Vernee Mars Pro: New High-End Phone with Premium Design

In storage, we find 64GB internal as you have seen before. Of these 64GB we have 55.45GB for the user. Without forgetting the possibility of inserting a microSD card of up to 128GB sacrificing the hole for the dual SIM in case we were short with the 64GB. Personally, I have 64GB and most people will not have problems in this aspect.

Vernee Mars Pro: CONCLUSIONS

The mid-range is now the most complicated sector in Android for all the competition there is. In this case, Vernee has decided to leave full-time for the design, something that does not value many brands. The Vernee Mars Pro is a quality terminal with a good screen and capable hardware of everything with which you will not stay short in any moment. When you catch it you will feel the same that has put the mark at the time of making it and surely be the center of the looks among your friends.

The faults that it has are software failures, so they have an easy solution. Sure Vernee is already working on it and in a few weeks will be solved. I say that they will be working on it because of other aspects of the software if they care a lot like for example putting pure Android to have excellent performance.

Where to buy the Vernee Mars Pro? In the store GearBest that is the store that has given us have it for $219.99.
